GFHS at Chicago Homeschool Expo, Aug 5-6

Carolyn & Jen will be speaking at the Chicago Homeschool Expo, August 5-6! If you’ve been to a Guilt-Free Homeschooling workshop before, we know you’ll love these new topics. If you haven’t attended one of our workshops before, you are in for a treat!

Our workshops at the 2011 Expo:
*Teaching the Unteachables: Tactile & Kinesthetic Learners
*Who Wrote This “Rule Book,” and Why Do I Think I Need to Follow It?
*Simplified Planning & Record-Keeping for Hopelessly Disorganized Homeschoolers
*Using Learning Styles to Develop Excellent Study Skills
*Preschool Is Not Brain Surgery
*Conquering the Tricky Transition from Public School to Homeschool
*Overcoming Your Biggest Fears in Teaching: Math, Science, & Spelling

These workshops are jam-packed with solid, practical information you can put to use immediately. Come prepared to take notes, because you’ll want to remember everything!

Look for the Guilt-Free Homeschooling booth in the Vendor Hall. Our books will be available, including a brand new book, The GFHS Solar System Learning Lab. We will also have a w-i-d-e variety of teaching & learning aids, manipulatives for all ages, and fabulous one-of-a-kind products that can’t be found anywhere else. We specialize in matching manipulatives to learning styles, and we have our new line of Learning Labs to help you teach a variety of subjects (we have restocked after nearly selling out in Chicago this Spring!). If you have wiggly-can’t-sit-still students or can’t-keep-their-hands-still students, you need to see our Learning Labs! The GFHS staff love to meet our fans — tell us if you’ve read our blog!

GFHS Speaking at NICHE (Iowa)

Carolyn and Jen will be leading two workshops at the NICHE Conference in Des Moines, IA, (HyVee Hall, downtown) on June 10-11.
“What Type of Homeschooler Are You?” (Friday, 2:30pm) Are you struggling with homeschooling and feel like you’re working against yourself? You may be! Identifying your own characteristic homeschooling style can make each day go more smoothly and free you from the guilt of thinking you don’t “measure up” to other families. Learn what simple mistakes could be responsible for many of the problems you encounter each day.
“Taking the Mystery Out of Learning Styles” (Friday, 4pm) This incredibly informative workshop will show you how to use your students’ strengths to improve their weaknesses. Identify your children’s learning styles (visual, auditory, tactile, kinesthetic) to grab and hold their attention; identify your teaching style to spot tendencies to present every lesson in the same way. Learn how easily you can adapt any lesson to any learning style for any age! Your students can and will learn better and faster using these simple tips! (This workshop is hugely popular–parents call it a life-changer!)

2011 Workshops from Guilt-Free Homeschooling

2011 Conference season is quickly approaching! DD Jen and I will be leading workshops at several large conferences this year:

March 24-26, InHome Conference,
St. Charles, IL (Chicago) — Focused on unschooling, this is a FUN conference, and we LOVE presenting there!

June 10-11, NICHE Conference,
Des Moines, IA — This will be our first year as presenters, instead of just attenders at NICHE. We are really looking forward to sharing our message of Guilt-Free Homeschooling with our fellow Iowans!

August 4-6, Chicago Homeschool EXPO,
Schaumburg, IL — Our 2nd year here, LOVE IT! VERY focused on offering solid, practical information that you can use!

Our information-packed workshops are *extremely* popular with beginning and/or struggling homeschoolers. Attendees have told us through their tears that they came with one last hope to make homeschooling work, but our workshops have completely turned them around to the point where they are now CONFIDENT in their ability to teach their children, using the proven methods we present for teaching children according to their learning styles. Our motto has become “Equipping Parents for Homeschooling Success” — and we deliver exactly that. If you are interested in what workshops we will presenting at which conferences, please email me at guiltfreehomeschooling@gmail.com. If you attend one of our workshops or visit our conference vendor booth, please introduce yourself and tell us you saw this on our website!

Our vendor booth offers our books, Taking the Mystery Out of Learning Styles and Diagnostic Tools to Help the Homeschooling Parent, along with an extensive line of teaching/learning aids for all ages and all subjects. We show how to use common everyday materials you may already own for teaching your students in ways they will understand and remember, but we added our product line for convenience after many parents asked “Where can I get that?” In every way, we are Equipping Parents for Homeschooling Success!

MSNBC’s Series on Homeschooling

A reporter for MSNBC.com contacted me via email a few months ago, asking questions for a “future article” about how homeschooling families use the internet and social networking sites. I gave careful consideration to my answers, but I had no idea that they would be transformed into this wonderful article: Home-schooling parents turn to blogs, Facebook for help. In fact, this article is only one of a week-long, online series on the face of homeschooling today, and each article is linked to many more related articles! KUDOS to MSNBC for their quality treatment of homeschooling!!
